[QRD FERROX M5] Analog Stick Dead Zone Adjustment Guide
The QRD FERROX M5 controller supports configurable analog stick dead zone settings.
This feature allows players to fine-tune stick responsiveness for different gaming environments and avoid unintended movement during gameplay.
This guide explains what dead zone is, why adjustment may be required, and how to modify the settings on the QRD FERROX M5.
1. What is “Dead Zone”?
The “dead zone” is a small area around the analog stick center where input is ignored.
This prevents the controller from registering unintended movement when the stick is resting in the neutral position.
The QRD FERROX M5 is designed for precision and responsiveness, so the default dead zone value is very low, which is extremely close to 0.
This provides high sensitivity for fast-reaction gameplay such as:
-
First-person shooters (FPS)
-
Racing games
-
Action combat games
However, a very low dead zone can sometimes be too sensitive on certain platforms or games.
2. Why “Stick Drift” May Happen in Certain Applications
On platforms such as:
-
Mobile games
-
Smart TVs / TV gaming systems
-
Cloud gaming applications
Some software does not apply internal dead zone filtering.
With the M5’s ultra-low default value, the analog stick may be interpreted as moving even when untouched, which can appear as:
-
Character movement drifting
-
Camera slowly turning or drifting
-
Crosshair moving automatically in shooting games
This behavior is not a hardware fault.
It is simply a result of sensitivity and dead zone configuration.
3. Recommended Solution – Increase the Dead Zone
If you experience drifting on these platforms, we recommend increasing the dead zone value.
By increasing the dead zone, you reduce stick sensitivity around the center position, which prevents unintended movement.
Most users find that gradually increasing the dead zone until the drift stops provides the best result.
4. Step-by-Step – How to Adjust Dead Zone on QRD FERROX M5
You can adjust dead zone separately for Left Stick (LS) and Right Stick (RS).

Enter Analog Stick Settings
-
While the controller is powered ON and connected:
-
Hold T button + L3 (for LS) or T button + R3 (for RS) for 3 seconds
-
The HOME LED begins flashing, indicating analog stick settings mode
Increase or Decrease Dead Zone
-
To increase center dead zone:
Move the stick UP to maximum -
To decrease center dead zone:
Move the stick DOWN to maximum
When the minimum or maximum value is reached, the controller vibrates shortly.
We recommend increasing the dead zone gradually until the drifting behavior disappears.
Save the Settings
-
Press VIEW button once to exit and save.
Dead zone settings are saved permanently and remain active even after restart.
5. If Drift Still Occurs
If drift is still present after increasing the dead zone, we recommend the following actions in order:
A. Update the USB Dongle to the Latest Firmware (V1.25)
You can download the firmware update and follow the instructions here:
👉 Firmware V1.25 – USB Dongle Update Page:

This update may resolve drifting and intermittent wireless input issues.
B. Perform Manual Stick Calibration
If updating and adjusting dead zone does not fully resolve the issue, perform a manual stick calibration:
-
Disconnect dongle and USB cable
-
Power ON the controller
-
Hold T + MENU for 3 seconds
-
Rotate both sticks fully 3 times
-
Press RT and LT fully 3 times
-
Press MENU to save and exit
Calibration helps reset the center and maximum range of both sticks.
